Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command had apprehended two herdsmen, for allegedly robbing and defiling a teenage girl.

It was made known in a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday, that the suspects, Abu Adamu and Muhammadu Aliyu, were nabbed after the police at Ewekoro Divisional Headquarters received a distress call.

He revealed that the armed herdsmen had invaded a farm settlement at Afowowa Gbelu village in Ewekoro, assaulting a family living there.

The suspects ransacked the house of the victim, Aminat Okeshola, and made away with cash of N140,000. They also took a 16-year-old daughter of the family to cassava plantation and took turns raping her.

However, policemen from Ewekoro division went to the farm settlement, combed the entire area and nabbed two of the suspects who hid in a nearby bush at the sight of the policemen ,while the third suspect absconded.

The Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has declared that the other member of the kidnap syndicate on the run be hunted down and the case be handed over to the State CIID for investigation and arraignment.
